Can I bring my own dog to retrieve birds during our hunt?

A:     Absolutely! If your dog is trained or being trained for retrieving, we would love the opportunity to share a blind with you and your dog. We will assist in every way possible and will provide one of our professionally trained dogs if needed, depending on the circumstance.

What do I need to bring to the blind?

​

A:     All you need to bring is your license, gun, appropriate shells, small snack and a good time! Your guide will cover everything else needed. Providing waters and snacks upon request. If there is anything needed for health reasons, please bring it with you to the blind.

What license do I buy?

​

A:     This is all dependent if you are a resident or non-resident of Texas, and what you desire. Follow guidelines set by TPWD, you can find those in the link below:

In all cases you will need the following:

- Federal Duck Stamp

- HIP Certification

- Hunting License

- Migratory Game Bird Stamp (State of Texas)

What shotgun shells should I bring?

A:     

Duck/Goose Hunts:

For all duck and goose hunts, non-toxic shells are required. DO NOT BRING LEAD SHOT. Non-toxic shells include steel, bismuth, tungsten, etc.

Shot Size Recommendations:

Teal:  3" #4 Shot

Duck:  3" #2 or #3 Shot

Goose: 3" BB, or Stacked Goose Loads

Crane Hunts:

For crane hunts, you may bring lead shot, but it is not recommended, as if geese are in the area, you will not be permitted to shoot at them if the chance arose. Non-toxic shells are recommended.

Shot Size Recommendations:

Crane:  3" BB

Dove Hunts:

For dove hunts, lead shot is recommended, high brass shells.

Shot Size Recommendations:

White-wing:  2 3/4" #6 or #7.5 Shot

​

The above is only recomendations based on standard steel shot. Not all non-toxic shells are made equal and may compare differently depending on the shell bought.
